  • NJM Loves : Decorex

My dream bedrooms are dark and moody. I find them cosy and warm but also very glamorous. This room was designed for Decorex, the autumn design fair in London. I envisioned a space that was rich, somewhat masculine and very inviting. I had recently visited Leighton House when I was creating this room and loved the blue, gold and turquoise palette of the entrance. I collaborated with some incredibly talented makers to create one-of-a-kind pieces for the space. Anchoring the space is a wall covering in the deepest shade of blue, highlighted by Murano glass wall lights in shades of gold.

  • The bedside tables have an incredible specialist finish by inspired by chunks of rough cut turquoise. The bed is finished in a distressed gold texture which softens the severe lines of the four poster.  The mirrors were a custom design and the carpet is an amazing mix of cut pile and texture. I love playing with texture and pattern in fabrics and I particularly love the cut velvet Tiger Mountain pattern on the small sofa. Charcoal linen bedsheets are piped in green and the art above the bed is by Cuban artist Noel Morera.
